This Asian variety blesses gardeners with sweetly sublime fruit by mid-July, much earlier than other domestic plums. The medium-sized reddish-purple plums deliver some of the richest, ‘sweetshop’-like flavour with delightfully low acidity. ‘Beauty’ yields prolific crops of amber-fleshed fruit distinguished by its wonderfully juicy sweetness and unique taste. This heirloom’s self-fertile nature and bountiful harvests make it easy for beginners and keen fruit growers to enjoy.
Pollination Information: This plum is self-fertile and does not require a pollinating partner in order to set fruit. This variety of Asian plum is unsuitable as a pollination partner for other plums and gages.
Bare-root plants should be planted out as soon as they arrive. If this is not possible, they can be heeled in temporarily (covering their roots with soil) or potted up. Before planting, soak the rootball in a bucket of water for half an hour and make sure to incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole. Stake firmly in exposed positions and prune in summer to reduce the risk of silver leaf and bacterial canker.
